POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Development, the Advancement Coordinator performs a wide variety of initiatives for the purpose of identifying and soliciting the best prospects for giving to both the Annual Fund and designated purposes. The coordinator manages computer databases along with an acknowledgement system related to donor and constituent relations. In addition, the coordinator provides administrative support for the Vice President of Seminary Advancement, and assists with a variety of constituent events and communications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Annual Fund (40%) The Advancement Coordinator will assist with all activities associated with the Seminary's annual fund. These programs include direct mail, telemarketing, Days of Giving Programs, crowd funding initiatives and personal solicitation of leadership annual donors and prospects. Donor Services (25%) The Advancement Coordinator will be responsible for gift processing and acknowledgement, data base maintenance, and donor records. Working with the Director, the Advancement Coordinator will develop research templates and conduct research on major gift prospects. Participates in donor strategy development with the Seminary leadership to ensure that the donors with the greatest gift potential are appropriately and effectively cultivated. The Advancement Coordinator will plan and execute donor events and communications to steward donations to the Seminary. Alumni and Church Relations (10%) The Advancement Coordinator will provide logistical assistance for alumni events such as reunions and off campus gatherings. Working with Director, the Advancement Coordinator will help develop a robust program for soliciting and stewarding Churches. As assigned, the Advancement Coordinator will manage volunteer groups in annual fund, alumni relations and related Seminary activities. Office Support (25%) The Advancement Coordinator will provide office support for the Vice President of Seminary Advancement. This work will include, but not be limited to: preparing documents for board and committee meetings, assisting with travel arrangements and expense reports, scheduling meetings and other activities. In addition, the coordinator will oversee and train work-study student(s) and summer help to ensure departmental efficiency. QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; good customer service and interpersonal skills; must have tact in interacting with the public; proficient in all Microsoft Office application and sufficient knowledge of PC software or other applicable software; knowledge of various office machines; general knowledge of department's operations; general knowledge of Christian Church and its beliefs; visual and auditory skills. EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree or equivalent with an emphasis in business, marketing or English writing is preferred. In addition, a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in one of more of these fields is required. Solid administrative skills/experience desired. A Pittsburgh Theological Seminary alumnus is a bonus.
