Job Description:/h3:
Primary Job Description: Calibrate/align AC/DC Hipot Testers/measuring systems, impulse generator measuring systems, and high current source/measuring systems. Work environment may include AC/DC voltages up to 1 million volts and current up to 25 KiloAmps as well as Lightning Impulse measurements up to 2.5 million volts. Perform work according to IEEE Standard 4 /IEC 60060:2(and other) requirements and procedures. Determine calibration requirements and appropriate setup conditions. Perform work adhering to all safety requirements.

Purpose of Position:
Responsible for performing all levels of calibrations, tests, test setups, data collection and/or data analysis using recognized methodologies based upon a combination of experience, provided training and written instructions specific to the High Energy work. High Energy parameters are defined as High Voltage measurement values up to 500,000 volts on both direct and alternating current circuitries. High Energy is also defined as High Current measurement values up to 20,000 amps on both direct and alternating current circuitries.
Primary Responsibilities:
:Interpret and complete procedures required by IEEE Standard 4 / IEC 60060:2.
:Ensure adherence to traceability and metrology principles and standards.
:Ensure safe and controlled environment during all measurement activities.
:Perform analysis and troubleshooting as necessary to achieve accurate measurement results.
:Record Data and document results of tests meticulously.
:Organize requirements of measurement and budget time and resources to ensure high cost per hour testing is accomplished in minimal time while achieving accurate results.
:Work with small teams effectively ensuring synergies of knowledge, skill and experience.
:Customer site work requires independent self:starter willing to take responsibility.
:Communication skills must support explaining complex data analysis to managers and engineers to permit best choice decisions
Duties and Accountabilities
:Develops and maintains proficiency complex tests, analysis or calibration methodologies as assigned. Develops sound conclusions and writes reports of project results.
:Maintains accurate records of calibration, testing and analytical work performed including required traceability on equipment utilized. Computes, analyzes and records test data.
:Interact with vendors on technical problems relating to assigned work.
:Make recommendations or improvements on procurement of components, systems, spare parts, portable test equipment requirements, work scheduling, training, etc.
:Perform corrective or routine maintenance duties to, test, repair and calibrate instruments including cleaning and replacing components of circuits.
:Perform other team tasks when assigned.
Position Specifications:
:Associates degree, or 60 credits toward a BS degree in a technical field, or PMEL training (no experience required), or a high school degree a minimum of six years of relevant experience.
:Demonstrated aptitude in: chemical, electrical, mechanical or metallurgical testing, analysis or calibrations or basic engineering principles.
:Must have the ability to gain unescorted access to Nuclear Stations.
:Good oral and written communication skills.
:Specific training or experience in High Energy measurement.
:Nuclear plant experience or Radiation protection experience.
:Metrology or related education via VoTech, military or associate degree in technical area.
