The Safety Specialist is the local subject matter expert who actively participates as a part of the ORSH team to support natural gas process plant and pipeline operations, construction projects in assigned geographic area, and drives a personnel and process safety culture.
This person is involved with job planning/permitting and observes the actual work being performed to ensure employee, process and construction safety compliance. The Safety Specialist primarily uses Williams Integrated Management System (WIMS) as a resource to execute employee, pipeline, process, and construction safety standards and procedures.This position will report to the Safety and Environmental Supervisor assigned to the Operating Area.
:Support Operations Supervisors, Operations Managers, Project Managers, Operations Technicians and coordinates with other functional groups.
:Support development and review of Job Plans. Participate in review of jobs involving hot work, LOTO, purge and pack, confined space, crane/critical lifts, fall protection or simultaneous operations or other non:routine tasks.
:Participate in incident investigations as a facilitator, lead or team member and ensure appropriate follow up on area hazard/near miss reporting. Track area action items utilizing Gensuite software and assist the operating area with closure.
:Performing Life Critical safety training. (e.g., work permitting, job planning, hot work, confined space awareness, management of change awareness, lockout/tag out, excavation and trenching and gas detection awareness).
:Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Hazard Screen Review (HSR) and Management of Change (MOC) process to help identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
:Participate in area/construction leadership and project team meetings.
:Provide emergency response support.
:Coordinate and participate in assurance audits
:Provide operating area safety metric data to area leadership.
:Provide guidance and expertise relating to employee, pipeline, process, and construction safety.
:Determine applicable OSHA and other regulatory requirements and communicate potential impacts to Operations and Construction.
:Coordinate Industrial Hygiene Programs and sampling in conjunction with operations and Company/Contractor Industrial Hygienist
:Assist in the maintenance and organization of process safety information (piping instrumentation drawing, electrical classifications drawings, equipment files, cause and effect diagrams, process flow diagrams, material and energy balances, relief valve data, plot plans, etc.)
:Analyze process safety related reports and other various types of documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
:Prepare safety related reports and other various types of documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
:Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Job will require public speaking and significant report writing.
:Bachelor's degree in Industrial Safety, EHS or other technical discipline from accredited university or equivalent experience in a professional safety role preferred.
