Position Objective/Summary
This is a 12 month full:time position.
Primary responsibilities include addressing the needs of children and families by providing information, support and referral services and by facilitating public awareness through education and outreach activities. Position helps to coordinate public relations, marketing and outreach activities and provides accurate and contemporary information about epilepsy to educators, students and their families, human service and medical professionals, and the general public. This is done by planning educational seminars, facilitating presentations and organizing outreach activities that are in accordance with directives from the EFWCP Board of Directors and Executive Director. This position also supports special events fundraising as requested and necessary, providing staff support to event committees, etc.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
:Establishes and maintains effective, on:going relationships with physicians, health care facilities and other medical professionals, consumer advisory groups and other community service agencies.
:Plans and implements the organizations Project School Alert program to educate teachers, students, school nurses and other school personnel throughout western/central Pennsylvania.
:Responds to requests from parents, adults, families, community entities and medical professionals for information regarding seizures, epilepsy and related issues.
:Provides appropriate referrals for children, families and adults to outside community services and programs.
:Establishes media contacts and develops and implements a schedule of public service announcements to publicize services and other Foundation activities and events.
:Works with the program staff to develop and implement outreach, education and awareness activities required by program funding sources.
:Works with program and development staff to develop and publish appropriate brochures and materials as needed and requested.
:Establishes and maintains relationships including on:site visits with individuals and groups responsible for educating students, school related personnel, physicians and other medical personnel, health care facilities, and other community service agencies.
:Develops and maintains appropriate types of education, training and presentation materials for use with various groups.
:Develops and utilizes standardized evaluation tools for measuring the effectiveness of presentations.
:Schedules, organizes and conducts a minimum of four education series workshops each year.
:Works collaboratively with EFWCP program and development staff to assist in the planning and promotion of special events and outreach activities.
:Acts as a liaison between parents and schools to address the specialized needs, difficulties and concerns of individual students in the school setting who have epilepsy. Acts as an advocate to support their educational rights under local, state and federal laws and regulations.
:Participates in position:related training, development and workshop opportunities that may be scheduled in both the Pittsburgh and Harrisburg areas.
:Coordinates and maintains the EFWCP Lending Library including educational materials, resources, videos, books, brochures, tapes, etc.
:Develops program specific objectives at least annually.
:Submits progress reports to the President and CEO as requested.
:Provides input from respective program for inclusion in agency brochures, newsletters, advertising, etc.
:Travels to communities located in central Pennsylvania and the Pittsburgh office; attends local or national conferences, seminars as requested.
:Supports and adheres to the agencys policies and practices.

:Demonstrated ability to represent the agency in a professional and ethical manner.
:Demonstrated public speaking skills.
